Eight Day Rain is the home of a dragon and a plant-fairy, who came together to be stewards of the land in the spring of 2022. Our vision is to create a home and a gathering place for humans who seek connection. Here in this awe-inspiring landscape, we are following our need and passion for creating meaningful experiences with ourselves, others, and the living environment.

The Cederberg is the heartland of many hikers, mountaineers and nature lovers, and continues to evolve as an adventure- and eco-tourism hub. Rocklands in particular is a mecca for the local and international climbing community, who descend on the valley like flocks migrant birds every winter season. This ecological and cultural landscape is also a highly valued playground and laboratory for archaeologists, geologists, botanists and entomologists to name a few, as well as citizen scientists of every description. Part of our vision it to find ways to transform the negative impacts of high volumes of tourists within natural areas into opportunities for seasonally responsive, ecologically sensitive and mindfully iterative land management practices.

We believe that sustainable development is only possible when we balance the privilege of access to these incredible places with a deeply felt responsibility to protect and conserve what makes them so special.
